Shutter Speed in the Studio

Shutter Speed in the Studio

In these photos we just started testing what would happen with slow shutter speeds in the studio, we did very simple things at first for example in these photos whoever was in front of the camera would just wave their arms to create the moment in front of the lens. Because the model was just moving their arms there body shows up on the camera but creates moment on either side.

After we started testing out movement with slow shutter speeds we started testing out light, at first we started doing simple lines around and behind the model. Once we knew what the light was going to come out like we started doing more complex things for example we started to try and draw illustrations and started making light patterns. After this we started trying to write with light because of this while moving the light to make the light disappear and jump from one part to another we had to turn it off and on.

Once we finished working with light we went back to movement, but this time instead of creating abstract photos we created photos which captured a moving thing as a still image, doing this can create a very surreal effect depending on what is captured though the lens this is because what is normally captured as a moving thing is froze in time and what the human eye doesn't usually see it can pick it up from a photo.
